The 24hrs was happening from September 2 to 5 at park Jean-Drapeau.
Another great success for the eighth year of the 24hrs Inline Montreal
Another challenge for the eighth year of the 24hrs Inline Montreal, which ran from September 2 to 5 at Parc Jean-Drapeau. In a series of events open to all, the 24hrs Inline Montreal was held annually for eight years. For the fourth year, was in favor of the Canadian multiple sclerosis that skaters met. This year the event has donated $ 38 000 to the body, or $ 5 000 more than last year. The teams who raised the most donations will receive a gift certificate for a free participation in the 2012 24hrs Inline Montreal.
New for the 2011
For the first time this year, the Friday Night Skate marked the beginning of activities of the 24hrs Inline Montreal offering a ride in-line skating in the city at night. About 80 people attended.
On Saturday morning, 24 Sprint welcomed skaters of all ages and all category for a series of activities at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Forty participants were loaned to the games. The day was spectacular in the eyes of spectators and very pleasant for the participants.
The highlight of the event is still running 24 hours a competition which was held from Sunday to Monday, when more than 800 participants were enrolled individually or in group with the aim of making the greatest number of turns on the route of 4.3 km. This competition is intended as a rally for skaters of all levels.
A change in 24 hours 21 hours
The temperature was perfect for all activities on Friday and Saturday, but bad weather prompted organizers to shorten the time of the stroke of 24 hours. The race began on Sunday at 14 am and was to end at the same time the next day. It was a difficult decision, but the organizers felt the participants should be encouraged and keep the team spirit so as not to lose sight of the goal of the event. It is with pleasure that the decision was greeted with a smile and that participants have completed the race and was our primary objective.
This eighth year was definitely the hardest of all. The primary purpose of the event is to promote the sport of inline skating and fun to practice. Weather conditions this year allowed for a lot of our participants to experience a new facet of the sport. How many times have you had the urge to put on your skates when there is rain outside? Well over 800 skaters from beginner to elite class did not have cold feet and made the 21 hour race. Congratulations to all!
Extraordinary Volunteers
A special thank you to the many volunteers who have dedicated themselves in an exceptional way to make the event up to the expectations. They had to work often in difficult weather conditions especially to meet the unexpected and provide high quality support to all participants. Without them and all the heart they put this event could not take place. A very warm thank you to all.
And next year
Next year, for the ninth year the event the 24hrs Inline Montreal should still be held during the weekend of Labor Day. This information has not been confirmed, but we have good reason to believe that we will be reserved. We indicate on this site as soon as we confirm dates.
